Dear Mr. Namazi:
I write in regard to the now completed public notice period associated with Amazon’s proposed Public Interest Commitments (PICs) filed on April 17, 2019 in conjunction with Amazon’s applications for delegation of the .AMAZON Top-Level Domains (TLDs).
Amazon has carefully reviewed each comment filed, the history of our submissions to ICANN, and all relevant Board communications.
Amazon believes that no comment submitted either prior to the opening of the notice period or during the notice period advances a new concern or argument. Amazon - and the Board itself – has previously addressed all points raised by the commenters.
In addition, Amazon remains committed to our PICs. We will not use as domain names in each .AMAZON TLD those terms that have a primary and well-recognized significance to the culture and heritage of the Amazonia region. We will provide nine domain names in each .AMAZON TLD to be used for non-commercial purposes by ACTO and its member states to enhance the visibility of the region. We will block from all use up to 1500 domain names in each .AMAZON TLD that have a primary and well- recognized significance to the culture and heritage of the Amazonia region.
Amazon thanks you, the Board, ICANN CEO Göran Marby, and ICANN staff again for the considerable time and attention they have devoted to this matter. We remain willing to establish a Steering Committee to include ACTO and its member states to implement the PICs, as described in our April 17 submission, upon delegation of the TLDs.
Sincerely Yours,
Brian Huseman
Vice President, Public Policy
