Geography matters more than companies

Amazon, the company, chose their name based on the Amazon river; the namesake should take precedence over the corporate entity when considering an application for a gTLD, especially since the company wields inordinate amounts of influence compared to the vast majority of the people who inhabit the region around the Amazon river. Amazon still has a readily recognized potential gTLD in their stock market symbol, AMZN; there is no reason for them to be allowed to claim the name of an entire geographic region as their own gTLD.
